Dr. Yang Hongsheng, Professor and Director Assistant of Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; member of the board of directors of China Zoological Society, Chinese Society of Natural Resources, and Chinese Society of Oceanology and Limnology; Vice president and Secretary of Chinese Malacological Society; Associate editor of Studia Marina Sinica, Member of Korean Journal of Malacology, Executive member of Ecological Science, Member of Marine Science and Progress in Fishery Sciences.

Dr. Yang's long-term research program focuses on aquaculture ecology, ecological immunology, Bioremediation of Aquacultural Environment and Sea cucumber genetic breeding. In current 5 years, Dr. Yang has been funded by National Key Foundational Research Project of China, National Key Technology R&D Program, Hi-tech Research and Development Program of China and National Key Foundational Research Project of China.

Dr. Yang is the first to put forward new ideas of eco-engineering-oriented aquaculture, developed a structural rational and creative research team. He has revealed the self-pollution mechanisms of shallow sea shellfish aquaculture as well as the impact on aquaculture waters, figured out the ecological function of large-scale algae and sediment feeding animal (sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus), investigated the ecological immunology mechanisms of Zhikong scallop in response to different environmental stress. His current work also involves developing a series of aquaculture facilities and equipments used in shallow sea and lands full-scale farming projects. Related technology and equipment has been promoted in Shandong and other places along the coast. 

Dr. Yang has published more than 100 scientific articles, obtained 17 licensed patents, 6 utility model patents and presided over formulation of a national standard in past 5 years He got the first prize of Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress Award in 2005, the second prize of the State Oceanic Administration Marine Innovation Achievement Award in 2006 and 2008.
