Dear Dr. Pang/Shaojun,

At the end of a long process to elect candidates for the next vacancies in the International Seaweed Association Council (ISAC) according to the Code of the ISA, I want to thank you very much for your participation in the election.

There was a total of ten nominees, from which the Nominating Committee selected four candidates for the voting process. I am very pleased to inform you that, after a close race, you were elected to become a member of the ISAC for a period of three International Seaweed Symposia (nine years) starting with the 20th International Seaweed Symposium (ISS) in Ensenada, Mexico, in 2010. Dr. Alejandro Buschmann, from Chile, was also elected.

Thank you for letting your name stand in the election process and your willingness to become an active member of the ISAC. I take this opportunity to remind you that as an ISAC member, your attendance to the 20th ISS in Ensenada, Mexico, in 2010, is mandatory. You will be invited to the ISAC meeting the day before the beginning of the 20th ISS and your term will start from the closing ceremony of the 20th ISS to the closing of the third subsequent ISS (23rd ISS).

With all my best regards,

Dr. Thierry Chopin

President of the International

    Seaweed Association
