IOCAS Delegation Visits Marine Research Institutes of Plymouth and Southampton

A delegation headed by SUN Song, director of Institute of Oceanology, CAS (IOCAS) paid a visit to the marine institutes of Plymouth and Southampton in Britain on June 20-24, 2011, laying a solid foundation for further cooperation between IOCAS and the institutes.

The visited institutes incorporate University of Plymouth (UoPMI), National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (NOC), Marine Biological Association (MBA), Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science (SAHFOS), and Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML).

During the visit, IOCAS signed cooperation memorandum with UoPMI, confirming to carry out exchanges and cooperation in scientists and postgraduate student exchanges, joint application of  international coorperation projects, as well as promoting marine science, particularly coastal oceanography comprehensive research and innovation breakthroughs.

In addition, the delegation conducted academic exchanges with NOC in the research field of marine geosciences, physical oceanography, marine ecosystems, and marine technology.
