A six-member delegation from Dai Nippon Toryo Company, Limited (Japan) paid a four-day visit to the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) from Feb. 3 to 6, 2012.
While talking to IOCAS researchers, Japanese experts expressed warm congratulations and advised on IOCAS' National Engineering Research Center for Marine Corrosion and Protection, which was newly approved by China's Ministry of Science and Technology.
Academician HOU Baorong from IOCAS appreciated their suggestions and expressed hope that both sides would take the center as a chance to jointly advance the technologies for marine corrosion and protection.
The delegation also took fieldwork in DongJiaKou port and Rizhao port to inspect the corrosion and protection of marine reinforced concrete and steel facilities. Both sides recognized the corrosion protection of marine steel structure as a tough job given corrosion-prone environment, which may require arduous work from the center as well as intensified cooperation between China and Japan in marine anti-corrosion.
