The international electrochemical society 67th EIS annual meeting

Date:Sep 28, 2016    |  【 A  A  A 】

The international electrochemical society was launched in 1949 by multinational scientists from all over the world. It is the most extensive and highest level academic organization in electrochemical research. In order to promote the study, it usually gathers the relevant experts to discuss hotspots questions in frontier domains, which lays some of the theoretical foundation. It is important in the field of electrochemistry.

Zhang jie, Zhao Xia and Zhu Qingjun arrived at The Hague on 20 Oct. 2016 and registered to attend the 67th EIS annual meeting.

On the conference, they heard George Whitesides’ report firstly, who was come from the Harvard University. The report describes an exploratory study of electrochemical fields from a long-term perspective, which will solve the problem of diagnostic service materials in limited resources environment condition, and provide effective tools for public health facilities. The emphases of the work are diagnose and analyse system, including the content of electrochemical diagnosis. In academic research, methods and strategies and how to translate the results of research into practical applications are very important. This report points out the way of scientific research for the scientific research workers from the highest point.

Zhang Jie discussed “the action of biofouling and calcareous deposit on the corrosion of carbon steel” with Pro. Martin Wilkening (from Australia), Pro. Dorota Matyszewska (from Poland) and Pro. Anthony Rennie (from U.S.A.). They talked about corrosion principle of marine microorganisms, effect of microorganism on cathodic oxygen reduction reaction, effect of different temperature on the corrosion behavior of microorganisms, effect of different temperature on the corrosion behavior of microorganisms, status of protection technology of microbial corrosion and future development trends. At the same time, brief exchanges on microbial sensors are also carried out.

Zhu Qingjun exchange his ideas on “Synthesis & Corrosion properties of arc spray Zn-25Al coating”. He discussed local corrosion protection method of steel ship cables and bridge cables under special environment and special sites with Pro Zhang Xiaodong (from Netherlands). Furthermore, they talked about micro arc oxidation, arc spray coatings, the advantages and disadvantages of different materials and the environment in which they are applied. He discussed with Elisa Sechi (from Italy) on corrosion problems encountered in the process of industrial production of chromate. In lecture hall, he studied the role of chromium in the auxiliary components in the production of sodium hypochlorite, especially on chromium hydroxide film and cathode selectivity with Pro. AnnCornel (from Sweden), in order to find out a new way to produce sodium hypochlorite by chromium free.

Zhao Xia give her presentation on “MoS2 /epoxy composite coating and its anticorrosion performance on carbon steel”. She discussed electrochemical equivalent circuit, coating test system method and electrochemical behavior of coating and metal interface with the chairman Pro.Santiago Garcia. She also discussed corrosion behavior of corrosion inhibitor on the passive film in simulated polluted concrete environment and properties of passive film with Pro. Beatriz Valcarce (from Argentina). At last, she talked about corrosion interface questions of electrochemical with Pro. Germano Tremiliosi-Filho (from Brazil).

Zhu Qingjun, Zhang jie and Zhao Xia went to Essen from The Hague by train on 26 Aug. 2016. On 27 Aug.2016, they discussed with Pro. Wolfgang sand group in University of Duisburg-Essen. Pro. Wolfgang sand gave a presentation on biofouling and biological membrane. Zhang Jie introduced the work on biofouling and microbial made by IOCAS. Zhu Qingjun discussed their work on world corrosion survey. Zhao Xia introduced the CMA system in our institute, which contains 35 painting items in all of the 77items. Both of Pro. Wolfgang sand group and they were interested in the work progress and realized it is necessary to strengthen further cooperation and exchanges. They invited Pro. Wolfgang sand to visit IOCAS in next year again.

Accompanied by Ms. Alice, assistant of Pro. Wolfgang sand, they visited some of the anticorrosion work of concrete and steel structure bridge. At present, anti-corrosion work in Germany has been done very well. Most of their concrete bridge have been painted by alkali-resisting, anti carbonation coatings and multiple anti ultraviolet coatings. The anti-aging effect is very good through using of silicone paint. The corrosion on bridge is rare. In Germany, every department pay attention to corrosion protection work not only in advance the building, but also in later maintenance and regular maintenance and inspection have been done perfectly.
