The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a research university and founded in 1908. It is located in Brisbane, including a number of colleges. Cooperative laboratory belongs to School of Chemistry, Physics and Mechanical Engineering. This laboratory mainly focus on the new titanate material preparation, trace metal extraction in seawater and colloid and interface chemistry research, and has great research achievements in the use of new titanate materials to extract trace metals in seawaters.
During the visit, I visited the Queensland University of Technology under the leadership of Professor Zhu and Dr. Sarina and understood the development history and research progress of this university and School of Chemistry, Physics and Mechanical Engineering. Particularly, we discussed the accurate method of extracting and measuring trace metals in seawaters. Besides, under the guidance of Dr. Sarina, I learned the advanced method in determination of trace metals, especially learned the method that using a novel photocatalyst titanate to extract trace metals in seawaters. Finally, according to the concentrations and characteristics of trace metals, we analyzed their geochemical behaviors. At the same time, we discussed the possibility of establishing cooperative relations and applying for cooperative research project.
