The delegation led by Prof. Intan Suci Nurhati, Head of Research Center for Deep Sea of BRIN, Prof. Rer Nat Fahrurrozi, Head of Research Center for Marine and Land Bioindustry of BRIN and Dr. YI Xianliang, Second Secretary of Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Indonesia, visits IOCAS on September 13. Prof. WANG Fan, director of IOCAS, hosts the delegation and holds a discussion meeting.
During the Discussion Meeting
Director WANG Fan extends a warm welcome to the visiting delegation and briefly reviews the foundation of cooperation between the two countries and the research achievements of cooperation in the past decade. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of collaboration between China and Indonesia, he calls on both sides to continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two research institutions in multiple fields of marine science, jointly deepen the content of cooperation, promote the implementation of joint cruises, and explore new directions for future research cooperation, thereby enhancing the scientific research level and international influence of both research institutions.
During the meeting, Prof. SUN Weidong, Head of Center for Deep Sea Research, introduces the scientific research achievements in the deep-sea exploration and marine geology fields of IOCAS. Prof. Intan Suci Nurhati and Prof. Rer Nat Fahrurrozi respectively introduce the institutional structure, talent team, research direction, and research achievements of Research Center for Deep Sea of BRIN and Research Center for Marine and Land Bioindustry of BRIN. They express their expectation of conducting in-depth exchanges with experts and scholars in related fields of IOCAS and seeking cooperation opportunities. Prof. DUAN Delin, Researcher of Key Laboratory of Experimental Marine Biology of CAS, reports on research progress and key scientific issues of the Sino-Indonesia Marine Ecological Ranching Project. Prof. WANG Jing, Researcher of Key Laboratory of Experimental Marine Biology of CAS, makes a report on research and utilization of seaweeds.

After the meeting, the delegation visits Ocean Big Data Center, Marine Biological Museum, Marine Aquaculture Laboratory, Seaweed Culture Collection Center and Intelligent Simulator of Marine Ecosystems.

This visit provides a good communication platform for experts and scholars from both sides, promotes the understanding of experts from both sides, and lays a solid foundation for the next step of carrying out and deepening cooperation between China and Indonesia.
