Australian Delegation Visits IOCAS

Three scientists from Curtin University, Australia paid a visit to the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) on May 2, 2012.

The scientists involved are Dr. Kliti Grice, Dr Caroline Jaraula and Dr Martijn Woltering. Dr. Kliti Grice told about “PETM event and age of oil and also use of D/H biomarkers for glacial and interglacials cycles”、“3 major extinction events- P/Tr (marine section), end-Devonian (marine reef section) and Tr/J (terrestrial section) global warming and oil implications”、“d13C, POC, zooplankton herbivory, sterols in zooplankton and UK37 indices”. Dr Caroline Jaraula delivered reports on UK37 indices as temp proxies, burn expts and Tr/J marine sections. And Dr Martijn Woltering made a report entitled “ TEX86 markers as temp proxies”.

The scientists also exchanged views with IOCAS' researchers on organic geochemical biomarker for ancient marine environment reconstruction, sea surface temperature and salinity reconstruction.
