Prof. Emilio Fernandez and Prof. Alberto Gonzalez-Garces for Campus do Mar paid a visit to the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) on June 6, 2012.

The staff of IOCAS gave an overview of IOCAS, including its research focus and postgraduate education. They also showed the visitors around the key laboratories of IOCAS.

The visit enables both sides to have an overall understanding for each other, which benefits their further cooperation in marine observation, global change, and sustainable utilization and management on marine resources.

Campus do Mar is a project spearheaded by the University of Vigo and promoted by the three Galician universities, the Spanish Council of Scientific Research (CSIC) and the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO). It therefore brings together socio-economic agents and marine researchers from the Galicia-Northern Portugal Euroregion, in order to harness the best possible potential and optimize the available resources.
