Prof. Juan Lopez-Bautista from the University of Alabama paid a visit to the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) on July 27-29th, 2012.
　　
Prof. Juan delivered a report on “Assembling the Tree of Life for Red and Green Algae” and had an in-depth discussion with relative PI and researchers who are majored on algal biodiversity, phylogeny and biogeography, it enhanced the bilateral collaboration and academic exchanges.

Presently, Dr. Juan is the president of the Phycological Society of America, who has long engaged in the research of biodiversity, evolution and systematic study on algae, and made remarkable achievements with over 40 published papers.
