The research assistants Song Yongdong and Ma Xiaochuan from IOCAS visited NKE Company of France on invitation during Dec. 1- 7 last year. They also paid a visit to French Research Institute for Exploration of the Sea (Ifremer).

During the visit, the researchers were trained to set, operate and maintain a marine instrument named piezometer. Piezometer is developed by Ifremer and used for in-situ measurement and monitoring of pore pressure for geotechnical and hydro-sedimentological. In Ifremer, they visited the indoor lab, sample library and shipboard laboratory. The researchers discussed the application of piezometer in marine geology hazard research and conducted academic exchanges with French geology scientists in the research field of marine exploration and marine geology. In addition, both sides expressed the desire of cooperation research on piezometer application and marine geology research.
