May 16, Dr. Kalachand Sain from National Geophysics Research Institute, India, delivered a presentation-“Application of Seismic Methods for Assessment of Gas Hydrate, Imaging sub-volcanic sediments and Understanding Geodynamics” to researchers from marine geophysics and geology. Dr. Wu Shiguo, the Director of Key Laboratory of Marine Geology and Environment (MGE), presided over the meeting.
Professor Sain and Dr. Satyavani attended the International Science & Technology Cooperation Program of China “Dissociation of gas hydrate and its effects on submarine instability and climate change” supported by MINISTRY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY(MOST), People’s Republic of China and Department of Science and Technology (DST) India in 2010. Dr. Sain is an expert on Inversion, Modeling and Special Processing of Geophysical Data. Research interests include developed numerous innovative methods based on comprehensive inversion algorithms for the exploration of marine gas hydrates, imaging sub-volcanic sediments in offshore & onland, and understanding earthquake processes & geo-tectonics in several provinces of India, and built requisite expertise in seismic data acquisition, processing & interpretation; attenuation; attributes; traveltime tomography; AVO modeling; full-waveform inversion; pre-stack depth migration; rock physics modeling.
