Dr. Mike Coffin from University of Tasmania visited IOCAS

On 26th July, director of The Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, The University of Tasmania, Dr.Mike Coffin delivered a report on ‘The New Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania, Australia: Collaborative Research and Education Opportunities’. Director of IOCAS, Dr. Sun Song hosted the report.

 

Dr.Sun gave a warm welcome speech on Dr. Mike Coffin’s visiting; he introduced Dr. Mike Coffin’s academic achievement and social service. During Mike’s report, Mike emphasized the Strategic Planning of IMAS and the leading research field, including climate change, fisheries and aquaculture, ecology and biodiversity, ocean and Antarctic governance etc. He expressed the expectation of the cooperation in future with IOCAS. Dr. Mike Coffin also visited Marine Biological Specimen Museum, Breeding Laboratories, Marine Biological Culture Collection Centre, etc.

 

The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is a medium-sized public Australian university based in Tasmania, Australia. Officially founded on 1 January 1890, it was the fourth university to be established in nineteenth-century Australia. UTAS is a sandstone university and is a member of the international Association of Commonwealth Universities. The Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) pursues multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary work to advance understanding of temperate marine, Southern Ocean, and Antarctic environments.
