During July 11th to13th, the Crustacean Society Mid-Year Meeting 2016 (TCS 2016) was hold in National University of Singapore. The meeting aimed at the communication of researchers from different countries focusing on crustaceans. The experts Shirley SL Lim, Nipam Patel and Rudolf Meier gave reports on Crabs, evolution and phylogeny of crusteans respectively. The meeting was separated into nine sections, including crustacean behaviour, ecology, biodiversity and biogeography, phylogenetics, biology and evolution, biology of branacles, conservation of brachyuran crabs, southeast Asian carcinology.
Dr. Dong Dong, Kou Qi and Ma Lin all give oral reports on the meeting. The topics were “Notes on the squat lobsters from Indian Ocean Ridge”, “A new species of the giant deep-sea isopod genus Bathynomus (Isopoda, Cirolanidae) from South China Sea”, “A new species of the genus Typhlamphiascus (Copepoda, Harpacticoida, Miraciidae) from the South China Sea”, respectively.
This visiting successfully completed the visit task according to the established schedule. Through the meeting and academic exchanges, we have broadened our ideas of research on the crustaceans and the recent progress of international crustaceans, which are helpful for the future research. The participators learnt more knowledge and new methods from the TCS 2016 meeting, which is useful for the taxonomy of crustaceans in China.
