In order to ensure surface and subsurface buoys systems of the Yellow Sea Station and the East Sea Station of China Offshore Marine Observation and Research Network run safely in place, to get accurate real-time observation data, technicians of Public Tech-Supporting Center accomplished data acquisition and routine maintenance of vertical profile observation system and ADCP subsurface buoy combination system of the Yellow Sea Station, replaced sensors of the No.03 buoy system and repaired he No.10 and the No.11 buoy system of the East Station .

The main object of this routine maintenance of the Yellow Sea Station was vertical profile observation system of the No.05 and ADCP subsurface buoy combination system, which is self-contained, so their data should be acquired and batteries replaced regularly. This routine maintenance included data acquisition, battery replacement, system settings and redeployment; and also included cleaning of biofouling on the instruments underwater to ensure steady long-term observation. Moreover, according to the actual situation, technicians replaced ADCP and wind speed sensor of the No.03 buoy system.

The main tasks of this routine maintenance of the East Sea Station were replacement of some sensors and cleaning of biofouling of the No.10 and the No.11 buoy system. For the No.10 buoy system, technicians replaced temperature and humidity sensor, repaired visibility sensor and cleaned underwater instruments. Because the CDMA signal is too weak in the sea area

in which the No.10 buoy is located, the data is not transmitted continuously, technicians changed the control program and added Beidou satellite communication device to ensure real-time transmitting of the data. For the No.11 buoy system, technicians cleaned biofouling on the underwater instruments and chose higher-power riding lamp to ensure the security of the buoy.

This routine maintenance ensured stable operation of buoys systems of the Yellow Sea Station and the East Sea Station, guaranteed continuous output of valid data of Offshore Marine Observation Network. Besides, the lengths of vertical profile data and the subsurface buoy data has been accumulated to 53 months and 72 months respectively, which will provide strong support for marine scientific research and industry development in that sea area.
