On 19th May, 2009, Sino-German International Seminar on Structural Biology was held jointly by the IOCAS and Max Planck Institute of Biophysics in Qingdao.

Zhang Guofan, vice director of the IOCAS made a speech in the meeting, Prof. Xiang Jianhai and Song Linsheng co-chaired the meeting. Prof. Juergen Koepke, Guohong Peng, Ulrich Ermler, and Janet Vonck of Max Planck Institute of Biophysics introduced systematically the status quo of structural biology in European, the knowledge of biophysics of protein crystals, and X-ray diffraction methods, respectively. After the meeting, the experts of the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics visited the Specimen Depository and the Key Laboratory of Experimental Marine Biology. The audience said that they benefit a lot from this seminar that enriched the knowledge of biophysics, especially some frontier knowledge on protein structural research.
