A delegation of the National Oceanography Centre (NOC, U.K.) paid a visit to the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) on March 1st, 2011.

IOCAS director SUN Song gave an overview of the institute and its research focus to the delegation chaired by Prof. Andrew Willmott who, in response, made an introduction on NOC. The two sides exchanged views on a range of topics including marine system, marine climate change, earth science, marine biochemistry and ecosystem.

The National Oceanography Centre (NOC), which went live on April 1, 2010, is a fully-owned research laboratory of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) , delivering integrated marine science and technology from the coast to the deep ocean, working in partnership with the UK marine research community.
