Dr. Jean Paul Blancheton from French Research Institute for Exploration of the Sea (Ifremer) paid a visit to the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Science (IOCAS) on Nov. 2 - 5, 2012.

Dr. Jean Paul Blancheton delivered a report on “Welfare in Fish Culture and Sustainable Aquaculture”, introduced the EU project that he chaired in these years and had an in-depth discussion with students from IOCAS on fish welfare and sustainable development in aquaculture. Dr. Blancheton also visited the hatchery and grow-out recirculating Atlantic salmon farm basements in Yantai, which were co-built by IOCAS and Oriental Ocean company.

Since 2007, IOCAS and Ifremer collaborated on several areas, such as Sino-France international scientific research project and combined Ph.D students plan. And these cooperation achieved remarkable results on related fields.
