The library has over 200,000 volumes, 2,900 periodicals, in which two-third are foreign-language literatures. They are mainly marine science, where most are marine biology literature.  Publication and information exchanges have been established with 270 organizations in more than 44 countries. About 470 publications, including 260 original periodicals are exchanged annually. International indexing and database searching services are also an integral part of the library service.
